The apocryphal and pseudo-epigraphical literature of the Old Testament composed between the 1st century BC and the 2nd century AD, rewrites the history of the biblical past time to express and refer, indirectly, to the current history of Judaism under the Roman domination. This recourse to an idealized past time coincides with a period of crisis for the Jewish people.
