The tablet RS 19.23 from Ugarit, written in Akkadian, presents a problem of reading and interpretation at the beginning of line 11. Several authors propose to identify the Ugaritic term qṭn in the passage under discussion. This article focusses on qṭn 'hardware' or 'vessel, receptacle' first, and it concludes giving reasons in support of the reading katinnu, Akkadian term which is used in Emar texts referring to a kind of weapon, and in RS 19.23 with the meaning of a labour implement. The words katinnu and qṭn, against the views of some specialists, cannot be considered as graphic variants of a single word.
