The present paper deals with 199 words of Greek or Latin origin which appear in the midrash Song of Songs Rabbah. In addition to some statistic data, the various semantic derivations and meanings collected in classic dictionaries and in some specialized works are analysed. An abstract of this work was presented in Jerusalem at the XI World Congress of Jewish Studies (June 1993) and will be published in Hebrew in the Proceedings.
