The influence of Judaism on early Christianity has been studied in its different aspects. The author focuses on the new archaeological evidence provided by the recent excavations of ancient synagogues. He also analyses the archaeological remains of the Christian cult places before Constantin as well as the results of the latest studies on religion sociology applied to early Christianity. The increase as well as the variety in the new evidence concerning the ancient synagogues and the 'church-houses' precludes from admitting a direct connection -and even less a dependence- of the Christian building with the Jewish one. On the other side, from 3rd century onwards, in all probability the Christian basilica followed the pattern of the Roman type.
