Abstract

The Coria Jewish community dates to the end of the twelfth century. Its Jewish quarter was situated on Albaicín Street, and on the Plaza of the same name, in the colación of Santa Maria. The synagogue was located on the Plaza of San Juan. Approximately forty-six families resided in the Jewish quarter. They earned their livelihood as torneros, tailors, silversmiths, tax collectors, etc. As a consequence of the Decree of Expulsion, some Jews from Coria settled in Portugal, where they converted to Christianity. One such individual was Yudá de Alba.
