This study, based on documents of Hamburg's Archives, deals with various aspects of the daily life of the first Portuguese Jews to arrive in that Hanseatic city at the end of the 16th century, their interactions with the Ashkenazis (called «tudescos») and the Lutherans, who were openly anti-Jewish.
