The term baqbuq (1 Kgs 14,3 and Jer 19,1.10), which is only witnessed in the Hebrew text of the Bible before being used in modern Hebrew, is well identified with a pottery vessel of the Iron Age II, with a narrow neck and a handle, found in the strata of the archaeological excavations in Israel from 9th century to the end of 6th century B.
