Despite the great number of extant documents, the Jewry of Aranda de Duero has been very little known and the same can be said about the Mudejar aljama. From de beginning of the 16th century, when the city had a market already, till the expulsion (or conversion), both the social groups as well as the marginal ones were very influential in the economy of Aranda. Their relationships with the rest of the population were peaceful until 1480. The Jewish Synagogue was located in Barrionuevo Street. From that year onwards Jews and Moors were confined to the slums, living in extreme poverty, completely isolated from the rest of the population. It seems the number of converted Jews was very large not only in Aranda but in the rest of the area. Most of the Mudejar population was also converted in 1502.
